The Board and Brew
Lock picking’s been controversial since 1851; come see what the hype’s all about.
Locksport is the hobby of opening locks for fun. We’re on a mission to spread the good word—you, too, can have fun opening locks.
Our class is centered around getting novice pickers up to speed and providing hands-on guidance as they progress from less to more difficult locks. We even have a bag of evil for experienced pickers. We don’t focus on the technical aspects of locksmithing (though we love answering questions)—we want to get our students up, running, and stuck on a puzzle they’re addicted to.
We will start the evening with a brief presentation on how pin tumbler locks work and how they can be defeated. We’ll have one of our expert instructors available for hands-on demonstrations and guidance as you learn to pick real locks. If there is interest, we can break from pin tumbler locks to learn about handcuffs and other restraints and how to defeat their locking mechanisms.
This class will be taking place during Board and Brew’s Brew Tuesday (11/28, 6-8pm)—pickers are welcome (and encouraged) to enjoy food and beverage during the class. The price of food and drink is not included in the ticket price.
Students will take home a complimentary basic pick kit.
