Music Meets Art in The Thirteen’s Finale “The French Connection”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 19, 2017…Washington, DC…The Thirteen, Washington’s all-star professional choir, will perform their last concert in a highly successful season themed, “The French Connection.” The concert on Saturday, May 6, begins at 7:30 and will be held at St. Columba’s Church 4201 Albemarle Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20016, conveniently located one block from the Tenleytown Metro Station.
The Thirteen will explore the French sound-world in this unique concert with composers from the 15th through the 21st Centuries. Composers featured in the concert include works by: Josquin, Lassus, Durufle, Poulenc, Messiaen; and the American composer, Daniel Elder. The Choir will enchant the audience with a concert of love songs, music that is impressionistic and nationalistic; and displays the ardent devotion the French so beautifully express through music. Matthew Robertson, Artistic Director of The Thirteen, states about the concert, “The elegant and moving music of France has long captivated me. I look forward to sharing this stunning concert with our Washington audience.”
An art show on display before and following the concert will showcase art work that is impressionistic in style. All art work will be for sale and help to underwrite production of The Thirteen’s newest CD. Pamela Price, an internationally juried watercolorist and member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, will be a featured artist in the Show. The Impressionistic art works will augment The Thirteen’s powerful voices guiding the audience through a memorable evening of beautiful music. The evening concludes with a free wine and cheese reception to continue a visual experience of the period with an opportunity to meet the Choir.
