Using hundreds of kinds of handmade paper – gathered from all over the world – Jolles glues the papers down in layers to create uniquely textured scenes. The papers are cut, ripped, folded and manipulated so a sculptural feeling is achieved. The works in this show are based on trips to Israel, interpretations of holidays or Jewish life cycle events, and inspiring scenes from nature.
