Nearly three months ago at one of our weekly editorial meetings, our editor, Phil Jacobs proposed a project to profile each and every synagogue in the DMV.
With 114 congregations in the area we knew this project would take years to complete and set to work. On January 12, we launched our first Bima page, featuring Congregation Etz Hayim in Virginia. Since then, we have produced two more Bima pages and are looking forward to the 111 more that we have yet to cover.
As the point person for the Bima project, I have had the pleasure of coordinating reporters, synagogues and run dates. Most importantly, I have had the opportunity to hear from congregants, executive directors and rabbis on what they love about their respective synagogues. Each and every story is unique and we at Washington Jewish Week are thrilled to be able to give your congregation the spotlight.
If we haven't spoken yet to schedule your run date, please email me at Emily@washingtonjewishweek.com or give me a call at 301-230-6686. I'll be looking for personal anecdotes, as well as specific information such as the number of congregants, number of years in existence, number of children in the preschool etc. If those numbers don't appeal or apply to you, don't worry, whatever numbers you want people to read, those are the ones we'll include.
We're hear to work with you and can't wait to call you up to the Bima.
