MOVIE DISCUSSION ON ZOOM –  Shtisel

This Sunday we will discuss the movie “Shtisel,” an Israeli television drama series about a fictional Jewish family living in Geula, Jerusalem. The series follows the lives of Shulem Shtisel (Dov Glickman), the Shtisel patriarch and a Rabbi at the local yeshiva as well as those of the other members of his family. Shtisel is set, in a religious, Internet-free neighborhood, that follows strict haredi customs. Violating these norms often causes chaos within the family. However, the characters who are more open to a secular lifestyle reflect Geula’s moderation in comparison to their neighbors in Mea She’arim, the adjacent community known for religious extremism. “Let’sTalk About It!:  Discussions for Baby Boomers ++” is a Jewish (yet allinterested persons are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation) mostlysingles group 50+ which meets twice monthly on Sunday mornings.  Wetalk about either a topic, movie, or book in the context of concerns thataffect our lives.  Our dialogues afford participants the opportunity toget to know one another and make new friendships.
